Nature’s Brushstroke

A swallowtail painted in black and yellow.

I’m no butterfly expert, but this one stopped me in my tracks. Wings like living ink strokes—black and yellow in perfect balance—opened wide in the sunlight, holding still just long enough for me to frame the shot. In that moment, it felt less like photographing an insect and more like capturing a brushstroke from Mother Nature’s own hand.
