You Cleat Me

Even what waits in silence has a story.

On an empty dock, I found myself drawn to this weathered wooden cleat — a simple, useful tool, waiting in silence. Its purpose is to hold fast, to secure what might otherwise drift away, yet on this day it stood alone. I couldn’t help but imagine the vessel it anchors off on an adventure, leaving the cleat behind in quiet isolation. In black and white, the texture of the wood and the emptiness surrounding it seemed to echo that loneliness, a reminder of how even the inanimate can stir emotion when given space and light.
